Causes of Indigestion
Both, modern and Ayurveda science do believe that psychic factors like anxiety, worry and depression may cause indigestion. If a person is suffering from certain diseases like ulcers, gastritis, pancreatitis etc may interfere digestion. Certain modern drugs like NSAID, antibiotics also disturb the digestion. Certain diseases or organism may invite indigestion. This includes H.pylori (helicobacter pylori). This is nothing but the bacteria that resides in the mucus layer of the stomach and can cause irritation to the stomach called as gastritis. It is fact that about half of the world’s population suffer from this type of gastritis. Where as 70-90% of the people who suffer from the peptic ulcer are carriers of H.pylori. Ayurveda strongly believes that regular interval between two meals is necessary to keep your digestive fire normal. It is believed that eating fatty and greasy or heavy to digest food also give rise to indigestion. One who smokes or takes alcohol in abandon quantity also suffers from indigestion. Incompatible food, stale food, junk food, too spicy food and eating too many milky products also makes person prone to have this condition.
