The pain is something a physical or mental hurt or disorder. There is no individual who has not suffered from the pain in any region. This could be mild to moderate to severe. A pain is the message of the body that something has gone wrong and please looks at it. Pain troubles everyone irrespective of gender or the species. When this pain comes to joints they are known as joint pain. Joints are movable structures of the body and those which are movable tend to have pain as normal phenomenon.
Ayurveda refers this as sandhi shool where sandhi stands for joints and shool is nothing but pain. Ayurvedic science has narrated this in a very unique fashion. Ayurveda believes that the sandhi is one of the main seat of Vata Dosha. Ayurveda also confirms the presence of Vata Dosha everywhere where the pain exists (“naasti Vata vinaa rujah…” – there is no pain without the involvement of Vata Dosha). The joints, being the seat of Vata Dosha and Vata Dosha being the main cause of pain makes the painful situation in obvious way.
