Vitamins for Weight Loss

Weight loss is a gradual process where you need to do regular physical exercise and regulate your diet to lose weight. Research shows that more than 50 percent of adults are overweight in almost all the

developed countries. The body's weight-control or weight-related functions such as appetite, metabolism of fats and sugars, and calorie-burning, work better when you get required intake of vitamins. All vitamins play an important role in maintaining optimum weight, and since many vitamins work together, sometimes it gets really difficult to single out certain good vitamins for weight loss.

Vitamins for Weight Loss

There are certain vitamins that can help you lose weight. These are vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B-complex (Choline, Inositol), and Vitamin C.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) for Weight Loss

Your body requires vitamin B2 for normal thyroid function and metabolism. Some of the foods that are good food sources of vitamin B2 include milk, almonds, hard cheese, eggs, liver and kidney, and leafy green vegetables.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) for Weight Loss

Vitamin B3 is required for the same reason as vitamin B2 – for normal thyroid hormone production. You should have wheat bran, turkey, chicken, eggs, meat, salmon, oats, barley, and cheese for required amount of vitamin B3. Also you can have dried fruits and brown rice.

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) for Weight Loss

One of the important functions of your body is to digest food. The deficiency of vitamin B5 decreases your capacity to utilize fat. Vitamin B5 helps in adrenal function and plays a critical role in energy production.

For required amount of Vitamin B5, have foods such as liver and kidney, meat, poultry, nuts, eggs, molasses, oats, barley, and beans. Wholegrain bread and green vegetables.are also good sources of vitamin B5.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) for Weight Loss

Vitamin B6 regulates the production of thyroid hormone and metabolism. Some of the good foods that contain vitamin B6 are brewer's yeast, wheat bran, wheatgerm, oats, poultry, beef, avocado, and bananas. Apart from these, brown rice, dried fruit, and cabbage are also good sources of vitamin B6.

Choline (a vitamin B complex)

Choline is a vitamin that is synthesized in your liver. It is required for effective fat metabolism in your body. Insufficient intake of choline causes trapping fats in your liver. To deal with choline deficiency and for required vitamins for weight loss, have lecithin, beef liver, beef heart, egg yolks, cauliflower, and cucumber in your diet.

Inositol (a vitamin B complex)

Inositol is also synthesized in your body and it helps choline in proper fat metabolism in your body. Almost all the foods that are good sources of choline are also rich in Inositol.

Vitamin C for Weight Loss

Vitamin C is extremely component of your diet for a variety of reasons. The foods rich in vitamin C are excellent antioxidants that help you deal with many diseases. Apart from other functions, it enables proper conversion of glucose to energy in the cells. There are many foods including citrus fruits that are good sources of vitamin C. These include blackcurrants, broccoli, green peppers, orange, lemon, kiwi fruits, and strawberries.

You need to be disciplined in your diet if you want to lose weight. Your efforts should include having diet that reduces your hunger, utilizes fat properly, enhances metabolism, and at the same time, maintains your energy levels. Apart from natural foods, there are many supplements that contain required vitamins for weight loss. These provide you healthy weight loss experience along with healthy metabolism which is a must for people who are trying to lose weight.

There is an enzyme in your body – lipase that is required to break down the stored fat in your body helping you proper use of energy. The deficiency of lipase causes fat to be stored as excess fat in your body. Having a vitamin rich diet fulfills the lipase requirements in your body.

Many supplements contain certain specific fibers since fiber reduces your hunger. You do not feel tempted for junk food or other food items that are not good for over-weight people. While purchasing any such supplements from market, read the ingredients carefully. Ideally, you should seek guidance from a physician as to what kind of products may work best for you. Certain supplements may contain required vitamins for weight loss, but may not be suitable for your body because of age, or general physical health of your body, and other factors.

The purpose of most of the vitamins is to enable proper utilization of body fats that ultimately helps you lose weight. Another important nutrient – theobromine, is found in chocolate. It helps you a feeling of being healthy, and is an important component in any weight control diet as it suppresses the appetite. This is important since many people are not able to lose weight because of their inability to resist cravings for foods.
