October 29, 2008
There is nothing like homemade supper at the end of a tiring day or in the long summer days. Lot of ready-to-eat food are available in the market, but the commercial methods of processing and preserving them for long time, strips them off their nutritional value. Homemade food has no alternative. Not only the food value is kept intact, but also the taste. And I bet you can’t miss the excitement in preparing a dinner for yourself, provided you have some mouth watery recipes in handy.
If you think making healthy and tasty supper would be a lengthy process, think again, because there are short-cuts also. Here are some recipes which can even make a cook out of kitchen-sick people. While looking for an easy available, tasty, and adaptable ingredient, chicken often tops the list.
Fast suppers could be prepared from boneless breasts of chicken. Take chicken breasts according to the number of heads, each should be covered by fresh bacon (if there is a dinner party other varieties of ham like Serrano or Parma, can be used). Take a baking tray and put the chicken in it, with a couple of cherries, tomatoes or prunnets. Add 5 tbsp olive oil, and a few drops of balsamic vinegar. Dried herbs like thyme, basil, oregano, can be used for seasoning. Sprinkle some pepper and salt. Now bake at 400F/200C/gas for about half an hour, till chicken is tender. This preparation can be served with tagliatelle or some other pasta forms.
For those who love pork, here comes a lip-smacking recipe. First you need to cook rice as per requirement. Take an apple and slice it into pieces after peeling off the skin. Take plain oil in a frying pan, add some butter and put the chops. Spread out the apple pieces along the edges. After the pork turn brown by frying for around 1 minute, pour 200ml of apple juice and cook in low heat for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile stir 1 tablespoon of crhme fraiche, while cooking in simmer. Your dinner is ready now. Enjoy pork served with apples and rice. And to enhance the taste of your delicacy, go for a dash of sauce sprinkled all over.
