Alert from Allergy
Allergies sometimes really make life miserable. It is necessary for us to have some common knowledge about allergies.
Allergens:
We have several allergens by our side. But the most commons are
-Pollens : tree, grass or ragweed pollens
-Mold spores
-Mites
-Stings of insects
-Feathers
-Animal dander
-Even certain foods and medicines may cause allergies too.
Symptoms:
-Eyes get affected much. Eyes become watery and itchy.
-Sneezing is another common symptom. It is followed by running nose.
-Reaction: Anaphylactic Shock
-It can be a threat to life if not treated properly. It is generally linked to insect stings.
Precaution:
-Do not use ceiling fans in the time of allergy because these fans may spread pollen in your home.
-Do not use dyes. Dandruff shampoos many times contain dye. So be careful while using anti dandruff shampoo because you may get allergic to the dye.
-Cover your sleeping mattress and pillows with anti allergic materials.
-Buy non allergic carpets to cover your floor
-Humidity of your home must not cross 45%. Buy a cheap hygrometer to calculate the humidity of your home. With mold killer like bleach clean and dehumidify your toilet and basements.
-Buy only those antiperspirants which contain anti-irritants.
-Decongestants must be avoided if you are patient of hyper tension, because using of Decongestants may cause heart attack.
Treatment:
Antihistamine diphenhydramine are generally used for the treatment of allergy. While buying read the composition and recommended doses carefully. It would be better to discuss it with your doctor. As Antihistamine cause sleepiness, do not take it while driving.
Relief for eyes:
As it is said earlier that eyes get more affected because of allergy, here is tip to comfort your eyes. Drench a clean piece of cloth in the cold water and place it on your eyes at least for 15 minutes. This cold compress will soothe your eyes.
