Do you know the smell effect can work wonders when you are feeling dumped or feeling fatigued. Or you may be looking to find some psychological boost. The essential oils are just what you should pick up at this hour. Good smells boost our spirits while bad smells disturb us. With smells come associations with past memories which can be good or bad. The human brain is responsible for processing the smells in the region of the brain called the limbic region. We feel the scents rather than understand them logically. They are better understood by images and associations than by methods of analysis. Incidentally the smell part in the region of the brain, also known as rhinencephalon is the limbic region. The emotions and aroma are interlinked and these bring about some electrical impulses in the human mind.

The essential oils stimulate the limbic region because they contain phytochemicals. The inhaling of the oil aroma, releases the neurochemicals in the human brain and create changes in the mind, spirit and body. So when you smell lavender, the serotonin is released. This produces a soothing and calm influence in the body.
The essentials oils are taken from plants i.e. from all parts of the plant body like roots, stems, leaves, flowers and also the rinds of fruits. Their oils smell real good and the smell spreads through the whole room. You can choose from a range of oils that range from sandal wood to bergamot. These are known from the properties of sensuousness. There are carrier oils called base oils. You should place some drops of diluted oil on the palm and start inhaling the wonderful aroma. You may also add a it to the bath water and when the smell spreads through the bathroom, you should start bathing with that water.

I thought the article was very good, but I would like to add that it would be better not to use Sandalwood as it in an endangered tree.

Also remember to dilute all essential oils in carrier oils. Never use an essential oil undiluted on your skin.
