Pregnancy does have an effect on the firm sagging breast is inevitable. This effect is not related to breastfeeding so much as to pregnancy itself. So don’t worry that feeding is making this worse. After you have stopped feeding, exercise will help you to get back as close to your previous shape as possible. Although the breast tissue itself cannot be exercised, the surrounding muscles can, and this does have a positive effect upon the appearance of the breasts. Swimming is a particularly beneficial breast firming exercise.
If a breast firming exercise will work for you, or if you just want to exercise your upper body anyhow, there are several weight bearing and aerobic activities that may work for you. Push-ups and pull-ups are weight bearing exercises that don’t require you to actually manipulate any weights. Dumbbell flys, bench presses and butterfly presses all require you to use free weights or exercise machines. The additional weight and miscellaneous small muscle groups required to handle free weights will probably make these types of breast firming exercises more effective than push-ups and the like. A popular and very effective non-weight bearing breast firming exercise is swimming. Swimming especially targets the chest, as you need your chest muscles to propel your arms to keep you afloat.
this is mainly aimed at my female colleagues and is completely a genuine question. Ive recently lost quite a bit of weight and am determined to get to my goal through weight watchers in the next 6 months. I have been doing lots of tummy toning exercises and stuff for my arms and legs…but wondered if anyone knew any simple exercises I can do at home to keep my upper half where it should be? I am worried that they will sag with the weight loss as it will be five stone when I get to goal and I am two thirds of the way through. Any ideas would be most appreciated….also does anyone know if breast firming creams actually work or will I be wasting my money?
Try this pectoral exercise:
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Hold a tin of soup in each hand. With your arms by your side, raise your forearms into the air, until they are vertical, but keep your elbows on the floor. From this position push the ‘weights’ up until your arms are over your shoulders, with your palms facing away from you. Don’t lock your elbows or lift your shoulder blades off the floor. Pull in your stomach muscles and tilt your chin toward your chest.
Hold, then lower the ‘weights’ until your elbows are back on the floor.
Do this ten times every day.
Buddy System: Some days it’s hard to talk yourself into an activity. Working with others who are going through the same thing can be motivating, especially when you promised that you would meet for a walk in the park, or a tennis match, or signed up to take a yoga class together. You don’t want to let your buddy down. In the process, you end up not letting yourself down either. Buddies can be co-workers, spouses, neighbors, or even faraway friends that you stay in touch with via e-mail and provide encouragement. Heck, your walking buddy can even be your pet!
