Breathing During Exercises
November 3, 2008
It is the most accepted truth in our life that you cannot stop breathing while you are alive. In fact one cannot stop breathing till he lives. That’s why you can take this activity as the base of every living creature on this earth. It is the base of life for living unit on this planet of ours.
Breathing doesn’t mean inhaling and exhaling of air, it has a more grave influence on your body. It supplies your body with fresh supply of oxygen and makes your body and muscles fresh and active. So, don’t take breathing merely as a part of life process. Carry out the following tips in different activities to get the most of the advantages of healthy habit of breathing:
Activity One: Running
While running, keep your lips closed, and breathe in sharply and deeply through your nose and then exhale through your mouth as if you are trying to blow out a candle. This breathing technique will help you to fill your lungs with fresh air from the bottom. It also helps you to take in more air when you inhale and empty your lungs completely when you exhale.
Activity Two: Yoga
According to Elena Brower, a Yoga expert from Virayoga in New York city, you should inhale with your mouth open and exhale in the same way making a ‘Ha’ sound from your mouth. Then close your mouth and keep on making the similar sound while inhaling and exhaling from your nose.
This breathing technique will help you to breathe normally in all your postures. This also keeps you always fresh and ready for breathing heavily and sharply.
Activity Three: Strength training
In the eyes of Tom Holland, an exercise physiologist and personal trainer in Darien, CT, you should inhale through your mouth when you lift and inhale through your nose when you lower down the weight. This process should be completed in six seconds –out of which you should take two seconds to lift the weight and four seconds to lower it. This technique helps you to concentrate your brain in the game. You will
be able to pay attention to overall form.
Activity Four: Cycling
While riding a bicycle, it is always advisable to inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. With the rise in the intensity of longer rides, you should breathe more carefully. Inhale deeply through the nose and exhale rapidly through the mouth.
The easiness of breathing process helps you to ease out your body more frequently. This also prevents heavy amount of fatigue and increases endurance.
