Chiropractic For Back Pain And Posture Problems
Today, a large number of women suffer from musculoskeletal problems. These are results of the various stresses of life today- The long hours at the desk, the food habits, the household chores, and so on. But many of us wonder, is there a safe and painless way to get rid of these back and posture problems? As a matter of fact, there is.
Developed by a Canadian osteopath, David Daniel Palmer, a treatment named Chiropractic is curing hundreds of women from back and skeletal problems by the art of healing from touch. In 1895 Dr Palmer persuaded a man, deaf for seventeen years after a back and neck injury, to let him maneuver his spine. There was a ‘click’ and the man’s hearing was instantly restored.
But after that, Chiropractic was condemned in the 1960s as an ‘unscientific cult’ by the American Medical Association. However, The AMA lost the consequent legal battle in 1987 and the medical practice has now gained extensive appreciation and is available in almost every American, British as well as Australian healthcare facilities.
The word chiropractic arrives from the Greek term, cheiro, which means ‘hand’, and praktikos, which means ‘doing.’ Chiropractors apply their hands to diagnose and heal spinal, joints and muscular disorders. They regard the body is as a machine, with the spine as link to the brain and a key support.
As the spinal cord branches nerves to every part of the body, any strain or distortion on the spine can have devastating effects and on the internal organs, glands and blood vessels. Chiropractors aim to re-align the spine, so that the systems can function properly.
Osteopathy and Chiropractic are often confused since both treatments involve maneuver of the body. While chiropractors make use of X-rays much more, Osteopaths use more of soft tissue manipulation, but in actually the distinction is becoming fuzzy. Some chiropractors work like osteopaths do, and some osteopaths’ work resembles chiropractors.
