Dieting has been the most common way of weight loss since ages. Once a craze in overweight middle-age women, dieting has now become a part of life of men and women of all ages and sizes. No wonder, dieting industry is a multimillion dollar business in America, today. Anybody who has even the slightest knowledge about food and nutrition is writing his own diet books.

You can find a new type of diet almost every month in the market and each of them claims to be the “ultimate formula” to lose weight. But before jumping on the bandwagon of any such diets, you must think about its consequences on your body.

True, some diets do work, but only because they are based on the principle of incorporating a healthier lifestyle through dieting in your life. Such diets work slowly and teach you how to change your eating habits and lifestyle, so that you can lose and maintain it in the long run.

Any diet that claims to make you lose 10 pounds in week or anything similar is a pure sham. Our body is not made to lose so much of weight that quickly. Therefore, if any diet is giving such results, then it can only have terrible affects on the body.

Any diet that forces you to live on lesser calories than your body requires functioning properly will make your body weak and tired. These diets not only make people unproductive, tired and depressed, but they also make their body vulnerable towards diseases.

Many diets recommend that we should leave out a particular type of food component like protein or carbohydrates from our daily diet to lose weight. This is also extremely debatable way to lose weight as many nutritionists believe that a balanced diet is essential for the proper functioning of various processes in our body.

You must use your own instincts when trying to lose weight. Any diet that is going to make you ill in the future is not worth it.
