Dark Underarms: How to Treat This Skin Condition
Many of us have dark skin in the underarms area which does not go away even after a lot of cleaning, using of ingredients for lightening skin or by changing the perfumes or deodorants. It looks dirty and you are to get rid of all that.
If this is becoming a gnawing problem you must be suffering from acanthosis nigricans, a skin disorder. This dark patch on the skin is called hyper pigmentation and skin caused due to this is thicker than the skin that is affected. This can happen in the underarms or on the groin or neck.
It has been found that people who are overweight develop this and this is usually due to the high levels of insulin. People with disorders for insulin regulation are more susceptible to this dry skin condition. People with regulation disorders of the insulin have this problem. The dark skinned people develop the skin pigment melanin.
So if you have the skin condition of acanthosis nigricans, what do you have to do?
First, see the GP. The condition tell you that your body needs attention and the best way to treat this disease is first to attend to the reasons that causes the black patch. If you are overweight the doctor would suggest some plans for weight loss and also a lowering of the insulin level. So if the diabetes is not controlled properly the doctor would help you to adjust to the plan of treatment to improve your skin as well as your health.
You have to make sure whether you really have acanthosis nigricans. Many perfume allergies also cause the black pigmentation.
Once you have realized the cause of these dark patches, you can also use the topical ingredients to lessen the patches. Ingredients like glycolic acid, lactic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, urea salicylic acids are very important for lessening the patches. You can find these ingredients in the drugs that sell over the counter but the dermatologist would be able to suggest to you better proportions of them and in effective concentrations.
