Does your Diet Include Biotin?
Are you always tired? Have you gained weight for no apparent reason? Are you hair falling? Then, you may have a Biotin deficiency. Biotin is a type of Vitamin, also known as Vitamin B7. This is an extremely important vitamin but sadly, most of us don’t know much about it. Biotin plays a huge role in our metabolism system and production of fatty acids.
In simple words, Biotin helps in changing the proteins, carbohydrates and fats in our diet into energy. It helps in regularizing our metabolism which is the process of burning up of fats in our body.
A slowed down metabolism creates havoc on our body. It not only increases our weight but may also create a lot of problems for our vital organs like heart, liver and kidneys. Biotin is also very important for hair. It stops unnecessary hair breakage and hair fall by strengthening follicles on the scalp. Thus, including Biotin in our diet is a must.
You can get this vitamin through various food sources like egg yolk, legumes, Soya, liver, onions, cucumber, milk, wheat bran etc. People who avoid simple proteins or only consume white part of eggs have been found deficient in this vitamin. Processed foods generally lack this vitamin also.
As people today, eat more and more processed foods, Biotin deficiencies are becoming more and more common. An average person should take around 25 mg of Biotin every day. This quantity should increase with age. Pregnant or lactating women should especially make sure that they consume biotin in right amount.
If for some reason you cannot consume foods which provide this vitamin naturally, then you can simply find its supplement tablets in the market. As there are no side effects involved, you may consume them without any tension.
Regular intake of this vitamin should cure your unexplained hair loss and weight gain. But if it doesn’t, then consult your doctor.
