You should learn to eat smart. Eating smart is having better choices in food. You can make some good substitutions in food and that will lessen your cravings and you will not feel deprived for making these delicious substitutions.

There are some foods we crave for but a healthy substitute would be good for health. For example, if you are craving for biscuits, you can swap biscuits for oatcakes. The oatcakes can have a sweet topping like apricot jam, some savoury, marmite spread and also low fat cheese. Oats help reduce cravings, balance blood sugar, they are also full of fiber and these are good for health.

If you are craving for cheeseburger which is heaped with fat and has ingredients of poor quality, then you should better go for a veggie falafel sandwich which is great and is like a burger. You can have it piled up with onion, cucumber and tomato and also with raita and yoghurt or a salad of low calorie to go with. This can be served in pitta pocket wholemeal. It is a bet you would not miss a burger any day.

Did you know an energy drink could be swapped for a wholegrain and banana sandwich? If you are a sports enthusiast you would need full one hours and more of serious sport before you should take this glucose boost. These drinks are also rich in caffeine and if you had coffee that could be a substitute. This food should help to stop other cravings.

Eating smart is all about making a better choice of healthy food. You should not feel deprived if you have made a delicious substitution. Next time you are craving for chocolates, be smart and go for dark chocolates which is a health food and it is rich in iron and magnesium and oxidants to protect the heart.
