The time of catching the flu is right around the corner and if you are pregnant, you need to care for the baby as well as for yourself. You have to take directives from the GP regarding the do’s and don’ts of eating. You have to eat the right foods for the proper nutrition which would help you drive off the virus and help to drive off infection better.

You have to eat the greens everyday. Spinach, kale, algae and seaweed are excellent sources of the vitamin D. These are also immunity boosters. This also gives us a great defence against any infection around. Recent researches have shown that levels in Vitamin D can affect the diseases like Multiple Sclerosis and Osteoporosis.

Orange juice, grape fruits and kiwis can be included in your daily diet. These are good sources of Vitamin C and these help in fighting flu and cold. This is also found in broccoli, cayenne pepper, tomatoes, bell peppers and cabbages. Sunflower seeds and almonds should be taken. These are great sources of Vitamin E and they are also antioxidants that keep the skin young looking and soft. They are also a good source of fatty acids. This keeps the body running very smoothly.

Garlic is a wonder therapy and it boosts the immune system. Ginger is equally good and that helps in opening nasal passages, helps the immune system and soothes nausea.

Complex carbohydrates like beans, sweet potatoes and whole grains should never be overlooked. Our bodies need them for the energy and also for the tissues to perform. This would weaken out defenses if not taken in proper amount. Therefore, as an would be mom if you take all these foods with care, you are sure to keep yourself and your baby immune and healthy in all respects.
