Good Mealtime Contributes to Strong Bonding
May 2, 2009
A fussy eater can ruin the peace of family mealtime. This is a time to unite the whole family with a positive attitude. To keep the spirit on, follow the tips below:-
-Make a diet chart keeping in mind the health problems and genetic health structure. Ask your physician to make it according to your child’s height and weight. Mealtime strategies also can help you out.
-It’s a time to enjoy meal along with each other’s company. So start chatting in a relaxing mood.
-Don’t scold your child for anything not related to mealtime.
-Teach your child to maintain table manners.
-If your child behaves well at the time, don’t forget to praise wisely.
-Never discuss irrelevant topic at mealtime. You can make your child know about the mealtime rules but that should happen before mealtime starts. Be cautious not to turn the discussion to lecture. Don’t ever scold or bribe your child for making him eat.
-Set a time frame to finish meal. Eating for a long time makes food taste bad. Thus your child loses interest to eat. If he/she finishes early or within the time, encourage him/her saying some praising words.
-Make your child realize that he/she must have the healthy food beside tasty one. He should know that healthy food doesn’t always taste good. On your part, you should not scold them but make them understand.
-Fix the menu first. You can take your kid to the menu fixing team. It will give him/her a energy booster and increase the lever of his/her interest towards food. Once you are done with set menu, don’t indulge any change.
-Any beverage like juice or flavored milk should not be eaten during or close to mealtime. Dessert will be served only after finishing the main dishes. All the adults must obey the rules set for the little one.
Make the mealtime fun and enjoyable to make your kid try new and non preferred food. Teach him/her inconvenience management by putting the TV and computer off.
-Lastly, if your child is not taking interest in eating, don’t panic. His/her health and growth are not solely dependent upon how much food he/she is having. If he/she is physically fit and healthy, there is nothing to worry. Body structure mostly depends on the gene. Include all the members to your planning for a good mealtime. Never apply force, it’ll end up with unhappiness and dissatisfaction.
