A man or a woman, everybody after puberty, in this metrosexual society wants smooth skin. Whether it is a question of facial hair, which needs to be shaved each morning, or a woman preferring smooth and clean legs, the regular need of hair removal can end up making us feel exhausted. The very moment we are finished with removal, it seems that it has already started over.

At a minimum, we can choose the right method to remove hair, which will helps us feel a bit relaxed and easy. Hence, let’s consider every option:

Shaving: As we all know is the easiest option of them all. It’s quick, economic, and easy to do staying at home. But hair cut by a razor is done angularly, leaving behind a sharp border. However, if the hair has a curly surface, it gets folded over toward’s skin while re-growing. At this situation, that sharp-edged end part of hair will give a piercing feeling on the skin. Hence, in case of curly hairs, it’s better to choose other methods.

Waxing: A lot of people prefer waxing, as once it is done, the problem with annoying re-growth of hair can be forgotten for some weeks. However, even this method has its limitations, and reactions. Waxing can lead to ‘hyper-pigmentation’ in some skin types. This mainly occurs due to uneven presence of the pigment ‘melanin’ in some skin areas than others. Exposure to heat can further stimulate ‘melanocytes’- the skin-cells that are responsible for pigment production. For example, hot wax can worsen situation in case of dark patches on the upper lip.

Even in the absence of dark patches, hot wax can still result in burns if incorrectly used.

When waxing is first done on skin, hair growth actually stimulates, it enters a phase called anagen. Though with time, hair grows thinner in areas regularly waxed.

Threading: This is a popular technique in India. In this method hair is removed one by one. This method is quite relaxing, as it does not include any heat treatment on the skin. This method becomes more effective if used with laser treatment. Threading gives an immediate satisfaction, and laser provides a long-term solution.
