Healthy Diet For Your Eyesight

Macular degeneration and cataract are two major ailments the Americans suffer from. As per an estimate, 13 million Americans have macular degeneration and about half of them become the victim of cataract. In order to find the effective remedy from these ailments, researches were made by the National Eye Institute and it has been noticed that diet can play a major role in controlling these diseases as several nutrients can protect our eyes.
Scientists have found that foods rich in beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein, plus zinc and Omega-3 fats are very helpful to control the macular degeneration.
The following tips are very effective for controlling these two diseases:
#1: Carrots:
This fruit-cum-vegetable has a unique medicinal value for the treatment of cataract and macular degeneration. It is rich in beta carotene, the antioxidant that plays the most important role to reduce the diseases.
#2: Broccoli, Bell Peppers & Brussels Sprouts:
These three essential foods are heavily rich in Vitamin C which is another important antioxidant for the treatment of cataract and macular degeneration. You can take three foods with different foods like omelets or pasta.
#3: Ostrich
If you are really serious about maintaining healthy eyes, then you must find a healthy and tasty lean alternative for any red or white meat (including beef, pork, chicken, lamb etc.). It is really very good for the health of your eyes as it contains rich amount of protein, iron and zinc which are all very useful for the prevention of the diseases.
#4: Sweet potatoes:
This food is also rich in beta carotene and is, therefore, very effective to control the said eye diseases.
#5: Turkey:
The meat of turkey has a rich store of zinc which fights cataract very efficiently. You can take this stuff with sandwich, salads or burgers. It tastes delicious.
#6: Spinach:
It is a real eye-protecting stuff. It has a rich source of vitamin C, beta carotene lutein and zeaxanthin. All these ingredients are very good for healthy eyes and eyesight.
#7: Wild salmons and sardines:
These two sea foods are very helpful as they are rich in omega-3 fats. According to the studies in this regards, it is said that omega-3 fats helps tiny blood cells that are buried in our eyes. You are suggested to take two to three 4-ounce portions every week to maintain a good supply of omega-3 fats to the cells of your eye to keep them healthy.
