Many of us wake up in the morning only to find with much horror, dark shadows under our eyes. Some of us wear glasses while going out to hide them! Dark circles are a major beauty diminisher, reducing the self-confidence of many, otherwise, beautiful women. Dark circles are mostly caused due to appearance of fine veins beneath the skin of under eyes. The skin under the eye becomes thinner due to aging, pollution and exposure to the sunlight. Sometimes, allergies can also disrupt the skin of that area. Hay fever, eczema or asthma can lead to formation of dark circles. Again, lack of sleep is also a very common reason behind this problem.

Some people with a deeper skin have superficial pigmentation which attributes to dark circles around the eyes. Health hazards like liver ailments, gastroenteritis, anemia, stress are some other hidden causes. Getting eight hours of sound sleep as well as timely treatment of allergies and associated ailments is a must. Home remedies such as placing cool slices of cucumber, mashed potato and tea bags on the affected area reduces puffiness and dark circles. For an immediate cover up job, cosmetic foundations or concealers can be of some help. While applying concealer, the shade needs to be carefully matched to the skin tone (a shade of gold is preferred). It should be noted that the whole eye area is to be covered and blended with the concealer, coupling it with a translucent powder dust, makes a long stay makeup. Eye liner as well as mascara should only be applied to the upper lid to avoid immediate attention to the under eyes. White shimmer takes care of the darkest inner corner of the eye. Makeup apart, one should try to remedy under eye circles from within, through balanced diet and proper lifestyle.

I’m always on the hunt for a good eye cream. I recently chanced upon a very good one from Isabella Pelle – called Extreme Eye Rescue. I’ve always suffered from crepe-y looking skin around my eyes and undereye circles. This stuff worked great on both fronts. My dark undereye circles have diminished significantly and the skin around my eyes looks much younger. To boot, its faily inexpensive and the company offers free shipping on all orders. Check it out ;)
