How To Care For Children As Parents
November 12, 2008
When you are planning a child, also be farsighted enough to consider the childcare options once your baby arrives. It is not only important to have a lovely child, but it is essential to give your baby proper care especially during the initial years of growth.
The environment where your child grows up should be congenial for his/her healthy development. Not only physical development, growth of other faculties of the brain is very important. Though as the mother, you can understand what is best for your child and how to care for him, your career compels you to entrust this task to other responsible people or organization. So, here we give you certain childcare alternatives you can adopt to bring up your child in a loving and warm environment without compromising with your own work.
Daycare centers
These centers are quite satisfactory but you have to choose one cautiously. Before taking any decision, visit a few centers and inspect their staff, facilities, hygiene and gather reports from other customers and their level of satisfaction. Try to get in early, because some women complain of having to wait up for years.
Home based
It means that you put the responsibility of minding your child to someone in a private home. In this case, follow your instincts regarding the credibility of the one whom you will entrust your child with. Also, measure the safety of the house including play areas, cots and highchairs. In some cases local councils also do this job, so you can follow their accreditations.
Friends and family
If you are lucky enough to get some willing relatives or friends to do this job, then definitely go for it. Offer money for their help, maintain communications and see to it that they do no get too exhausted with time.
A Nanny
Though this is costly, it is perhaps a tried and tested way of doing the best for your child. Test their mettle before appointing, especially their ability to mind your child, training, first-aid knowledge and their previous record. The list of questions should be ready. A nanny is always cost-effective in case you have more than one child. A nanny who lives in is cheaper than the one you pay on an hourly basis. You can ring up the tax office and for their advice as to what should be your requirements as an employer.
Au pair
They are nannies from foreign countries visiting Australia. They stay at your place and take care of your child though for a short term. Hire through a reputed agency and give them sometime to adjust themselves and study the environment.
Shared child care
Much like the barter system of ancient times you may swap your child with other parent for caring.
