Do you think that you are happy? Remember – it is not the material things or other people who can give you happiness. It is entirely up to you and how you make up your mind, which will lead you to be happy. In other words, it is you, who is totally responsible for your own happiness. The first step to happiness is to never think of the past and always live in the present. You also need to acknowledge that happiness is a choice.

Another factor that leads to happiness is by believing in yourself. No matter how you were raised or have experienced negative things, do not let them interfere in your daily life. If you still have trouble overcoming them, then refer to help that may or is available to you. You cannot change your past but you can always look to a better future. Therefore, create a future that is filled with joy and happiness.

How do you start the process of being happy? The best practice is to make a list of things that cheer you up and paste it on your bathroom mirror, to remind you each morning of doing the things that bring happiness. The second thing that you need to do is list all your qualities. Avoid being in the company of people who constantly talk about negativity, as it will only put you down. Remember to laugh always. A simple smile can bring a lot of joy. You may even try doing activities that make you feel good.

Another most important thing to remember is not to crib over small matters. Instead, you should try to solve them. A person should always be happy with what he or she has. Just tell yourself – there may be many people who are not as fortunate as you are. So, thank life for whatever you have got.

Finally, do the things that bring you joy and help you appreciate your own qualities and gifts. There is a saying that you should abide by, which goes as follows: it is nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. So be nice, and be happy.
