How to Fix Dry Skin Condition
Our skin goes through a number of problems during the varied seasons in a year. The most irritating problem of all is dry skin in winter. I know how it feels; every year I cringe at the thought of going through the harsh winter months and losing all the moisture from my skin. I personally am addicted to moisturizers in winter months.
Winter makes our skin dry because of the low humidity, low temperatures and the dry winds. These things rob our skin of our lipid layer that is responsible for keeping our skin from getting dry.
Well, if we can’t avoid it, we must at least do something about it. There are a number of things we could do to keep our skin moisturized and soft.
Say no to hot water– Try and bathe in lukewarm water instead of hot water. Hot water makes our skin dry and flaky. If you think you couldn’t give up on the hot water baths, at least keep it short. Also try to limit your hot water baths to once a day.
The same goes for hand washing; don’t use hot water and go for lukewarm water.
Moisturize at the right time– I know, most of you just can’t get enough of moisturizers in winter. Moisturizers work best when you use it on a little dampened skin. It’s best if you use it just after you take a shower. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing a towel on it.
Exfoliate- Use a scrub on your skin once a week at least to get better results after using a moisturizer. It is said that you get better results with a scrub if you use it on dry skin and then wash it off.
Also, remove flakes with a body brush before you get into your shower. It works better.
These are just some of the ways that could help you to deal better with dry skin. each one of us knows our skin best so, go by your instincts too.
