Helping children with their homework is one of the biggest challenges that parents face nowadays. Parents are quite hassled with the burden of daily work and if both the parents are working, which is not uncommon these days, the problem just gets compounded further. Often children get neglected, are relegated to fending for themselves or have to depend on tuitions for simple tasks like completing their homework.

Helping children with their homework is no mean or simple task nowadays, given the state of schools and quality of education being imparted. Individual attention to children’s needs are being ignored and classes are being conducted as per tight schedules irrespective of whether the child has really assimilated the essence and concepts of the lessons taught. Naturally, it is left on parents and their kids to figure out a way to complete their homework. Here are a few simple tips:

- While you may help children with queries and solutions, never do their homework. This would impede their learning and make them dependent on you.

- Ensure that you are in touch with their teachers for all relevant information regarding school, progress and issues – if any. That way, you will not miss out anything important that either the teacher or your child may have forgotten to inform you about.

- Get access to online resources (ask the teacher) so that you may be well equipped to help your children with their homework. This is imperative in this heavily networked society of ours.

- Instill a sense of discipline among your children to complete homework not much later after coming back from school. Remember – procrastination is bad and must be discouraged by all means.

With some help and personal initiative you can ensure that helping your children with their homework becomes a breeze!
