Breastfeeding is a pleasant experience both for the mother and the child. It is also very much needed for the developing a loving bond between mother and the child. The breast milk has all the nutrients essential for the child’s growth. During the baby’s first year it is very much needed to provide the child with the essentials ingredients to build up his/her immunity system. But most mothers suffer from the lack of milk production.

In the first few days of the delivery it generally takes time for the milk to come. But the flow becomes normal after some days or weeks. But the real problem occurs when you join your work place and you hardly find any place for pumping. Moreover daily stress, exhaustion, illness also affect the milk supply. The flow also gets hampered if there is a long gap between the two sessions of pumping.

Biological and medical reasons are not also ignorable. Developing post-delivery underactive thyroid gland is not unnatural for many mothers. As a result they face the insufficient flow. Thyroiditis also reduces the milk production. There are definitely some ways which may help you to solve this problem:

At first you need to decide how long you will carry on the breastfeeding. American Academy of Pediatrics suggests 12 months of feeding. But the process of accomplishment entirely depends on the mother and the child.

Then, you need to consult your doctor to find the medical issues which perhaps are affecting the production of the milk. If it is necessary don’t delay for the pathological tests.

Try to make some changes in the time table of your breastfeeding. Increase number of times of the direct feeding and try to increase the repetitions of the pumping. These will help to the production of the milk.

Most importantly minimize your stresses, lead a healthy lifestyle, drink a lot of water, and take sufficient rest and sleep well.
