Water is essential for living. We simply cannot live without drinking water. However, if water is not properly purified, then it causes more harm to your body than good. Water is known to be one of the best carriers of germs and impurities. Hence, it is important to ensure that the water we drink is properly distilled and purified.
Water contains various impurities like iron, dirt, mud and the like. These factors need to be separated before consumption. Otherwise, these impurities will lead to ailments like stomach upset and diarrhea. There are many ailments that are caused by drinking impure water like jaundice, diarrhea and so on. Hence, it is important to purify the water before consumption. You can still use impure water for recreation purposes, but impure water can certainly not be consumed as drinking water.
You can take a few common steps for purifying water. To begin with, you can use boiling. It has been seen that boiling water above a certain temperature i.e. 100 degrees, kills all the germs and impurities in it. Boiling water is one of the best ways to kill germs. Though not 100 % effective, it is the most widely used mode for purifying water before drinking it. A few stubborn germs still remain after boiling that may cause ailments on consumption. Moreover, it is important to ensure that clean utensils are used to boil water. Often, even though the water is boiled, the germs and dirt on the utensils add impurities to the water.
You may even use water purifiers. Various water purifiers are widely found all over the world.
