It’s a known fact that vegetable consumption is good for health. And parents sincerely try to ensure their children intake proper amount of vegetables every day. But, even after all this knowledge parents’ do face regular issues in getting their children to accept the consumption of vegetables.

There are a lot of Organizations working out for an individual goal of getting children to consume a regular amount of vegetables.

‘National 5 a Day Week’ has one vital goal, to get people more servings of ‘fruits and vegetables’ regularly.

By meeting this objective, helps us stay inside the ‘Food Guide Pyramid’.

But, the question in discussion is how to get the kids consume the required amount of vegetables and fruits. Particularly at a time when the kids only want to have ‘chicken nuggets’, and ‘french fries’, it becomes more of a struggle to get them into having vegetables and fruits.

It helps, if we start early, by offering the toddler different type of foods, mainly consisting of vegetables and fruits.

What we eat creates a big influence on our kids’ eating habits. If the parents consume chiefly consume less vegetables a child having table food will also have the tendency of developing the same taste.

Hence, we need to offer the toddlers and children at preschool age multiple types of foods chiefly of fruits and vegetables, which helps them to accept and learn to consume variety of foods and accept vegetables and fruits. It should be remembered that if children were exposed to continuous opportunity of consuming new foods, at least the kid would accept 30% of that. This signifies that a small tablespoonful of green beans served in front of the child for 10-15 times has a possibility that the kid will try it for twice or thrice at least.

Study also signifies that a ‘choosey-eater’ has been breastfed for ‘fewer than 6 months’, meaning that breastfeeding kids for more than 6 months actually can prevent kids from becoming a ‘choosey-eater’.

One of the tricks of adding vegetables and fruits to the daily dose of a child is by finding out the foods kids already prefer consuming, like muffins, yogurts etc., and adding up fruits and vegetables in recipes consisting both.
