Managing skin around the eyes
It is difficult managing skin around the eyes, especially when you start maturing in age. That’s because the skin around eye area is very tender and would require to be handled only carefully. Facial masks or heavy creams are not advisable to be applied to the area around the eyes. The oil content in them tends to stretch the skin around the eyes causing the area to get swollen and puffy in very less time. You should avoid using any anti-spot lotions or astringents in the eye area as these are drying agents and these will cause the skin around that area to dry up very quickly.
The night cream that we use should not be heavy at all. The cream should only be applied without any massage to that part. Stretching and pulling of the skin would cause the eye area to get damaged. The tissues around that area are delicate and therefore a very light touch should be applied for the removal of make up. You can choose from a range of nourishing creams and cleansers to be suited to that area around the eyes. A light cleanser with moisturizer and a cream with almond base can be applied.
Cleansing of the eyes area after application of make up is very important. You can use a cleansing gel with a moisturizer base and a cotton wool which is moist to wipe of the make up around the eyes. Soap should not be used at all as they cannot clean the area and the skin becomes too dry. After cleaning the area should be dabbed on with an eye cream to be removed after ten minutes.
For a regular care of the eyes you can use eye pads on the eyes to soothe them. The cotton wool dipped in rose water that is chilled and also potato juice or cucumber juice that is chilled helps a lot to bring back that brightness and fresh look. You can lie down and place them on the eyes for ten minutes. Sunlight is harmful for the eyes and therefore sunshades are a must for outdoors. Carrot oil which is a necessary ingredient for eye creams is good for the eyes.
