Peer pressure and influence of peers for teens
The adverse consequences faced by risky sexual actions take a toll on the mental make up of the teens. Teen sexuality faces many challenges. Sex is a very sensitive discussion topic which builds up some strong opinions. Choices are made without the proper consequences coming to our minds. The options should be known in order to make a choice. Many adolescents are unaware of STD in today’s world. It is important that
the problems of teen sex are dealt with.
The attitudes of friends and their lifestyle have a great influence on the teens. Adolescents who are friends who are sexually involved are likely to get involved sexually as well. The teens are of belief that they are respected by their peers if they are experienced sexually. Teen males feel they are more of a man if they discuss sex or gather some experience about sex.
The teens fear they would be labeled in their group if they do not engage in activities common to the group. Behavior and mannerisms of older teens will have influence on the younger teens. Teens are much influenced by the fads and trends. The doctors would prescribe parents to take a good account of the teenager’s friends and also to discourage mixing with friends who exhibit problem behavior. Family intervention is positive approach in reducing STD. This is an important influence the parents can have on sexual behaviors. Risky activities can hereby lessened by the parents getting involved in the sexuality education of their kids. Parents should take proper role in the promotion of healthy lifestyles. They should converse with teens
about sexuality and relationships. Through the monitoring of their social lifestyle and teaching them, they should protect their children from abuse and other influences. Parents also need to give guidance for
safe relationships. Adolescents who share a close relationship with the parents are responsive to the attitudes of parents. Communication with teens begins in the pre teen years. The discussions are about the goal in life.
