Pregnancy Complications – How to avoid it with Omega 3
It has been found through various studies that miscarriages particularly in younger women are often a result of DHA deficiency in the body. If you don’t eat a healthy and proper diet consisting of all important nutrients during pregnancy, you may end up being deficient yourself or the child would be born premature.
Omega 3 and pregnancy are therefore very much related to each other. To avoid complications during pregnancy and to prevent birth defects and other abnormalities, pregnant women should consume at least 500 mg of both DHA and EPA combined on a daily basis.
Foods to eat during pregnancy include fish, flax seeds, nuts, beans and tofu. In addition to these, fish oil capsules can also be added to everyday diet to ensure adequate intake of both fatty acids. 3 to 4 fish oil capsules can be consumed daily to get good amounts of DHA and EPA.
However, some pregnant women may develop infections and allergies to various nutritional supplements. Because of this reason they are advised to consult their doctor before starting the course of any nutritional supplement product including omega 3 or fish oil capsules.
It is also advisable to buy only high quality fish oil capsules made from pharmaceutical grade fish oil. This is because this grade of oil is fit for consumption and does not cause any side effects as it is refined and filtered through a process known as molecular distillation.
This process removes all kinds of impurities present in pure fish oil in the form of heavy metals like mercury and lead and other toxins. These impurities should be removed to obtain a clean and refined fish oil which is normally odorless and tasteless. Other grades of oil may not be fit for consumption and may cause infections and other health conditions like upset stomach, nausea and headaches.
