Proper Vaginal Care
August 21, 2008
Females should take special care of their private parts, particularly, the vagina. This is a must for all women and this sense of hygiene gives you a fresh and good feeling all through the day. The question is how women should take care of themselves, and their femininity. Dr. Evelyn Palaypayon of POGS, the society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Phillipines feels it is outright important to take vaginal care in case of every woman. According to her, the genitals should be dry always and never be moist. If it is not dry it can be wiped dry very gently and not rubbed. After every bowel movement it is wise to clean the anus area from front to back and not from the back. You can use toilet paper to clean it and then it can be washed with soap and water. It should always be cleaned from behind. A vaginal wash can be used that can work as soap. You can use clean hands to wash the genitals and this should prevent any infection from happening.
The Doctor always discourages women from wearing a tight pair of trousers as this causes moisture which is usually seen in candida infection which is a well known form of vaginal infection. Women have a vaginal discharge. This is a vaginal flora with is a colorless white discharge. There are however, abnormal discharges that are cheese or curd like and these are grayish, greenish or yellowish. A woman is said to have bacterial vaginosis when this happens. This causes an unpleasant odor that is fishy in smell and such vaginal discharges should be treated right away. So it is important that you go and see the gynecologist instantly. The treatment usually is oral medication.
Doctor Palaypayon advises the use of panty liners but they should be changed more often. After urination they should be changed as they become moist. The shaving of pubic hairs in the genital area is also a strict no. These hairs prevent infection from affecting the genital area. These are the general hygiene measures that should be followed religiously for the health and wellness in women.
