Remedies for Foot swelling during pregnancy

Foot swelling is a common problem in the pregnant women. These are among the other changes that spearhead at the time of pregnancy. The feet gets swollen in some cases and in other cases, the shins and the ankles swell up. Feet swelling usually starts from the 5th month of pregnancy but it definitely varies in different women. This happens due to fluid accumulation in the woman’s feet. The swelling can be painful in some pregnant women. This may hamper the normal work in some women but in some it may be a passing phase for a few weeks and with proper rest it may subside. A proper foot massage may help in such cases.
There are some simple remedies for foot swelling. You can drink a lot of water during the time you are pregnant. You should drink at least 6 to 8 glasses per day. Water helps to wash out all the toxins in the body. The water helps to flush the toxins out which would settle in the feet. That would make the feet swell. Drinking water would also increases the urination in pregnant women. This is good because that helps to take out all the wastes in the woman’s body.

You should not be standing for a long time because that would make the fluids enter the feet.

Hot temperature tends to reduce the water in the body and also increase the fluid in the body. Going out of doors in the hot climate should be avoided.

It is a wrong conception that salt intake causes the swelling of feet. Over intake of salts is certainly not good. Salt must be taken in moderate quantities. The diet should be well balanced. This is very essential for a woman who is pregnant. The wrong type of food would have he undigested waste material accumulate in the feet that causes foot swelling.

Changing sleeping positions is essential because pressure on one side would cause the foot on that side to swell up. You can also try a home made cure. You have to take two cups of water with some sugar added to it. To that add two teaspoonfuls of fennel seeds. This mixture should be boiled till it reduces to half the content. One cup of water would be left and this mixture should be drunk thrice a day. A few tablespoonful of coriander is to be added in two cups. You can drink this mixture thrice a day. You can also try to take some herbal tea and it helps. These are a few home remedies for feet swelling problem in pregnancy.
