Skin cancer is a fast increasing incidence among all other types of cancer. Excessive pollution has lead to ozone depletion, which in turn allows the harmful ultraviolet rays to enter the earth’s atmosphere. Exposure to these rays leads to skin cancer among other ailments.

You might think that direct sunlight can only cause skin cancer, but even if you stay indoors most of the time, you may develop skin cancer. First and foremost assessment is necessary. There are several self-checking methods for skin cancer. Most common indicator of skin cancer is the formation of large moles. Checking the nails thoroughly can give certain clue to this disease. If nail beds have black, brownish, or yellowish lines, there is high chance of damaged cell, due to melanoma. However, there is no reason to worry as nearly all such cases can be cured with timely diagnosis and suitable treatment thereafter. There is also a way to assess the status of your kidneys by checking for white bands on your nails.

We often have white marks on our nails normally. These are usually always caused by injuries of some kind or the other and are not a cause for concern. But, if long white bands are present and recently you’re in a lethargic and tired state then it can mean your kidneys are not functioning properly and are not sifting essential proteins out of your urine. If you have these symptoms then you should immediately see
your doctor and get your urine tested. This can lead to greater loss than intake of proteins, which is the underlying cause of the lethargy and in the long run this can cause renal failure.

High levels of cholesterol are indicated when soft and creamy depositions are seen in the knees, elbows or more commonly on eyelids. In fact the situation is much more alarming if cholesterol is so much higher that it gets deposited over the skin. A thorough check up for HDL and LDL cholesterol should be done regularly, if you want to avoid severe cardiac diseases.

Restrictions in diet and lifestyle can bring down the cholesterol level significantly. Check for these signs early in the morning everyday. Timely diagnosis and intervention can help you lead a healthy and tension-free life.
