Do you lock yourself in the room out of fear that your eating speed will be laughed at by others? Are you an object of ridicule for gulping down food at the dinner table before anyone has hardly started? Think again, as this might turn out to be a serious concern for you. We often end up eating fast without realizing that this unsafe habit of overeating can make us obese and eventually in the long run we suffer a lot.

Here we can put emphasis about the need of a proper diet. Any food we eat has a particular function to perform and this process might get disrupted if proper gap is not maintained between meals. Skip the habit of filling up your stomach like a fuel-tank as we are not machines. As we enjoy everything around us, likewise the food that we consume must be enjoyed the same way. In today’s fast lifestyle, people barely experience the goodness of food and end up hopelessly eating anything and everything available.

If the true purpose of food can be understood then we can overcome this problem. Food not only gives you energy to work but it also feeds you emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Learn to enjoy food with your senses of smell, taste and sight and you will feel a great satisfaction out of it. Use these senses and you can’t help but enjoy your food.

The sense of sight is tickled if the food is served in a palatable way and suddenly you realize having a watery mouth. Likewise the sense of smell helps to recall happy memories and stir pleasant emotions and you find yourself in a fine mood. The more you do it, the less you will eat. This is a wonderful concept termed as “meditative eating”, if taken as a challenge can do wonders for you. Have the essence of it before eating and you can have ultimate satisfaction both spiritually and emotionally, without putting on unwanted fat.
