Teenage Pregnancy Problems
Teenage pregnancy is on the rise in many places in the UK. According to a research, over seventy per cent of teenagers have requested contraceptive advice from the doctors or the local clinic for Family Planning. Over fifty per cent people have received the treatments for oral contraceptive.
The pregnancies that occur are generally unintended and they are usually the problems that many young women face. These girls are generally under sixteen years of age. The rates of pregnancy are generally higher in places where welfare services are overstretched. The teenage parents live in accommodation of low quality and they have poor health in case of both the mother and child.
Teenagers are not responsible enough to take care of themselves and that’s the reason why preparation for a pregnancy is not considered by children of such small age. Antenatal care is also very poor.
Avoidance and denial is also very commonplace. They have fear of being found out. This prevents them from taking proper antenatal care. Five of the girls who get pregnant do not have any antenatal care. They are in denial and therefore they wait for five months before they go to meet their GP. By this time they have missed many blood tests, screening and also health conditions that should be treated like anemia, blood pressure hazards and also diabetes. This would in many cases jeopardize the health of the teenagers. There are other obstetric problems that should be attended to. This may include placental separation at an early stage.
The EDD or expected date of delivery is very difficult to find out with just a forecast because the essential dates and the gestational events are forgotten. Proper sex education plays a great role in overcoming teenage pregnancy problems.
