Atopic eczema is very common now-a-days. Although it was present earlier also, the identification and spread is much noticed today.  If you have atopic eczema, you may be almost sure to have an allergy history in your family. It has been found in researches that there exists a family linkage between diseases related to allergy and eczema. Disorders related to allergy may include diseases like asthma or hayfever. The spread of this disease is almost in every country of the globe.

According to statistical survey, 10% of the number of children and 3% of the number of people in the country suffer from this disease. The symptoms become obvious on face, limb crevices and trunks. There remain scaly rash with reddish inflammation. With sustaining irritation and itching, people suffering from these find hardly any solution until he or she visits a reliable skin specialist.  People having dust allergy history are prone to suffer.  You will also find people who suffer from food allergies and pollens too.

In earlier times, an allergy required a series of tests to determine the nature of allergy and its treatment. Presently we are gifted with ImmunoCAP, a new allergy test for blood which is really helpful to diagnose and treat people with allergies. Though there are various methods to test and treat, but avoiding the allergy source is always the best.

Today’s doctors are there to prescribe medicines for the treatment of atopic eczema. There are so many treatments available regarding this disease. Many million dollars have already been spent to prevent and cure people from the claws of this type of eczema. Naturally, a good business has been developed centering this disease.

Children have been found with atopic eczema in large numbers. As they need to continue with long-term medication, doctors are concerned about the side-effects. The medicine that is mostly in use is topical corticosteroids. If this is used for long term and with large potency, side-effects like growth retardation, glaucoma, cataracts, thinning of skin may affect the children later. Research is being continued to treat this disease with more care and reducing any side-effect leading to potential danger.
