The causes of bad breath and how you can get rid of it

Halitosis or bad breath is caused from poor habits of health and hygiene. This could also be the reason for some other health problem. Bad breath could be worse if you eat unhealthy foods or have unhealthy habits. The food you eat are first broken down in the mouth. When the food is absorbed into the blood they are carried off to the lungs in the form of blood and exhaled as your breath. So when you eat some food that has a reeking odor like that of garlic and onion, flossing and brushing and even mouthwash cannot cover the odor fully. The odor goes away when the food passes out of your body as faeces.
Good habits of flossing and brushing your teeth everyday must be formed. The food particles that are there in the mouth makes the bacteria grow around the tongue and the gums. Bacteria are formed from the food particles as well as from the dentures that have not been cleaned properly. Chewing of tobacco and smoking can also cause bad breath. This can also stain teeth and the gum tissues are irritated.
If the bad breath continues to stay on then it may be due to some gum disease. This is caused due to the plaque of teeth. The bacteria cause the toxin formation in the mouth and the gums are irritated. If this disease is kept untreated, it would damage both the jawbone and the gums. Dental appliances that do not fit in properly also cause dental caries and mouth infections which should be taken care of immediately.
The dry mouth conditions like xerostomia are also a bad breath condition. Saliva is needed to Saliva helps to clean the mouth and also to moisten it and this helps the washing away of dead cells that are stored on cheeks, gums and tongue. These cells can rot and cause bad breath. Dry mouth is caused by certain medications, breathing through mouth and the problem with the salivary glands. Here are some other causes like kidney problem, liver problem, acid reflux, diabetes, postnatal drip, sinus infection that is chronic, bronchitis.
