We all know that chocolate creates heart diseases and obesity. Raw cocoa doesn’t make any harm but when it’s added to sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, dairy cream and other unhealthy ingredients, it surely increases the risk of heart attacks by clogging up the arteries and your weight.

Dark chocolate contains equal amounts of oleic acid (a heart-healthy monounsaturated fat also found in olive oil), stearic  and palmitic acids. Stearic and palmitic acids. Stearic acid doesn’t increases or decreases the cholesterol levels whereas palmitic acid leaves a fatal effect. But it is there only one third of the chocolate fat content.Milk chocolate affects cholesterol levels as it contains milk fat and fat derived from processed not from the raw cocoa.

Dark chocolate may not invite heart diseases but of course a store of heavy calorie. Sugar is a primary ingredient of chocolate. So habit of regular eating will make you obese and fat. Your figure will not remain slim and trim, and who doesn’t know, obesity is one of the main reasons behind heart diseases.

Recent study has told that some antioxidants in dark chocolate actually increase “good” (HDL) cholesterol levels by as much as 10 percent. Oxidation is a process that leads to artery-clogging plaques. People take vitamins and anti oxidants to destroy those plaques. Dark chocolate and cocoa also can help to prevent the development of plaque.

In a nutshell, we are still in confusion thinking that whether heart diseases are being invited by the chocolates. But, if you can keep a decent control over your greed and eat chocolates moderately, you can throw heart diseases away. But you must remember that chocolates supply your body extra calorie. So keep an eye on the calorie reading and enjoy the delicacy of chocolate.
