Water is one of the most important things we require for a healthy living on this planet. We can not hope of our survival on this earth without water. Actually, if you are interested in facts and figures, then you must know that about 75 percent of the earth and 80 percent of the human body is made up of water. Water is required in almost all the life process carried out by humans.

Most of the beauty products also have water as an important ingredient in them. But still there exist some misunderstandings and misconceptions about this life saving part of our life.

Like all the other parts of our body, our skin also requires a certain level of water to function properly. The enzymes present in the skin cells require water to generate new cells after the dead cells are sloughed off. To keep the skin and its cells hydrated, you must drink plenty of water everyday.

If any point of your life, you experience dry skin, start drinking water in a regular manner as it is an indication of dehydration. But sometimes, dehydrated skin is not the indication of dehydrated body. So it is always advisable to you to not to wait for any indications and you should drink water regularly. On being a doctor, I must advice you to drink water in every regular interval that suits your timings.

Always try to maintain the skin barrier. Skin barrier is a layer of your skin which is rich fats like fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol. In its healthy conditions, it is responsible for maintaining the moisture in your body but in case it goes wrong, it starts creating problems for you. It results in dry and dehydrated skin which is exposed to many other diseases. As a result of those problems, you lose the smoothness, glow and healthiness of your skin and it looks dull and lifeless.

The best and the easiest way to maintain a good health of your skin is to maintain the skin barrier. Apply lotions to your skin tat are rich in ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids. Apart from these lotions, you should take healthy diet to maintain the health of your skin and your beauty.
