The First Trimester Pregnancy
The first twelve weeks of pregnancy is overwhelming for women. All is so much new and exciting for her. For gaining a satisfactory knowledge of the little unborn, a woman has various questions in her mind.
During this time of pregnancy, disliking for certain smells and tastes are common. The digestion slows down, even making some delicious foods intolerable. Paying no heed to aversion might make a woman feel unwell. So having any food forcibly is not at all welcome. The non serious side of repugnance is craving.
Pregnant women at all times consider their belly as their crucial point. The initial symptom a woman notices, is that her bra becoming tight. The indicators of premature pregnancy: acne, cramps, mood swings, cramps and tender breasts, are strongly similar to PMS. The CVS or Chorionic-Villus-Sampling test is generally performed between the 10th and the 12th week. This is primarily conducted for checking the chromosomal disorders. Chorionic-Villus-Sampling can be performed before amniocentesis, but detection of neural tube shortcomings like spina bifida is not possible. Dr Donald R Mattison, who is the senior adviser for a renowned Institute specializing in Human Development and Child Health, feels that the risk of miscarriage is high with Chorionic-Villus-Sampling.
Pregnancy duration stretches approximately for forty weeks. For estimating the delivery date, seven days needs to be added to the 1st day of the last regular menstrual period. Thereafter, nine months needs to be added. The baby is taken to be in complete term, if it comes 3 weeks prior to 2 weeks following this date. This takes place in 90 percent of the new born. If the menstrual cycle commonly has a 28 days cycle, then the possibility of giving birth to a baby is near to the due date. If the cycle is shorter, then the delivery can be expected earlier. Conducting an Ultrasound, for measuring the length between the crown and the rump, is the perfect way for detecting the date.
