Treatment For Burns

Accidents can happen anytime in life. You can be very careful in your life but you can not avoid your misfortune. You must remain prepared every moment as accidents can happen anywhere any moment. Though these misfortunes vary in kind, nature and intensity, you must have the basic ideas to control the damage, if you happen to face any of those accidents.
Getting burnt is a very common type of accident as you may fall into this misfortune any moment. Generally, it happens when you neglect some of the safety measures. This is the only way you can protect yourself from these accidents.

• Do not apply ointments, fats, or any form of lotion on the wounds.
• Do try to avoid bursting any blisters.
• Avoid trying to remove any cloth that may be stuck to a burn.
• Do not cover the burn with any adhesive or feathery bandage.
• Place the person, who is suffering from the wound, in a comfortable position so that he can be given the medical attention immediately.
• Apply running water in the burnt area immediately. If running water is not available, pour cold water onto the burn. If this is also not possible, then immerse the burnt area into bucket of water. Here it is important to avoid extremely cold or chilled water.
• Continue this first aid for at least twenty to twenty-five minutes. If the burnt has occurred due to any chemical agent, continue this process for at least half an hour till the person feels better.
• Be very patient to remove the clothes that the person is putting on. In case of chemical injury, the clothes get contaminate. Therefore remove it and avoid its use again.
• Always remember not to use adhesive or fluffy coverings. It is advisable to use sterile dressing in the presence of an experienced medical practitioner.
• If the affected area also includes the face of the person, then try not to use the face with any tape or bandage.
• Sometimes wrapping of bandage round and round on the wound causes problems to the person. So use wrap cling film over the injury, if necessary.
• Try to keep the person in senses. Keep talking to him and keep him in his senses.
• Try to ease his pain by giving him proper medication like paracetamol or Ibuprofen. If you are fully assured of the proper medication, then try till the doctor is called for.
