Cough and cold is quite a common for the babies and the problem becomes worst because most of the drug solutions are not at all recommended for the children below 4 years of age. So what can you do?

Home Made Remedies Of Course:

They are the best for the babies. They are safe, no side effects and are effective. Check out the list

Honey: It is one of the very beneficial gifts of the nature. Researches have proved that they can relieve sore throat and can reduce the intensity of cough. It has also been seen that parents who give buckwheat honey to their kids 30 minutes before bed time report much less problems of the babies.

Chicken Soup: Do you know chicken soup has anti inflammatory properties that can provide relief in the case of cough and cold. So if your baby suffers a lot open a can of chicken soup.

Ice Pops: Ice pops are also very effective. They help in cooling the throat and thus reduce irritation and pain. However while giving ice pops always remember to rely on the pops made of 100% fruit juice. They are natural, without any artificial sweeteners and are not at all harmful to the health of the child.

Lubricating the Nose: One of the major reasons why the babies suffer so much from the cold is that the irritation particularly of the nose and throat becomes quite unbearable. Lubricating the nose may reduce the irritation. However always use cool mist vaporizer or saline nasal drops. Some times it is also advised to use an aspirator to suck out the mucous in case the babies are too young to blow. However while using aspirators keep in mind that you can only use it two to three times per day. Excessive use may result in prolonged irritation which may aggravate the situation.
