Gaining of weight is a common problem among the women of today. Lack of physical work accompanied by irregular food habits have significantly contributed toward obesity among women. It is also a common problem of the middle aged women particularly in the post menopause phase and post pregnancy phase. Those who are suffering from thyroid and blood sugar problems are also vulnerable to obesity which in turn has several other critical manifestations. It can cause high blood pressure, heart blockage, high cholesterol level etc even giving rise to life threat.

One of the most common and simple preventive measure is exercise which may be with or without machines. Even a 20 minute morning walk or yoga can cure and prevent all these problems quite effectively. The change of food habit is recommended by most of the doctors. Instead of gorging on junk foods and burgers healthy eating habits consisting of proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates should be encouraged and practiced. At least 2-5 seasonal fruits are a must along with animal proteins or soya proteins. The timing of the food intake should also be changed. Instead of taking two heavy meals per day it is always advisable to have at least 5 small meals each day. During pregnancy the body tends to gain weight as it has to support another life. But the expecting mothers can do some yoga even at the most advanced stage of pregnancy and after delivery maintain a regular health routine and schedule. The post menopause stage is often depressive and many women in this condition tend to eat a lot resulting in weight gain. In this stage to avoid feeling frustrated keep healthy sugar free biscuits and fruits like cucumber, papaya, guavas with you and don’t starve when hungry as this may aggravate the situation.
