Why Crash Diets Don’t Work?
There are hundreds of types of crash diets in the market. Self proclaimed dieticians are telling us what to eat, what not to eat, when and how much to eat. But most of the time, these diets fail to give the desired results.
The main reason behind this is that most people follow diets which they can only follow for a short amount of time. Just think, can you follow a diet that forbids you to eat rice, bread, pasta, fruits and vegetables for the rest of your life? Will you be able to eat red meat in the breakfast every day of your life? Probably not!
There are many other insane crash diets like only popcorn diets, all liquid diets, raw food diets etc. which may help you lose weight for a short period but you only will have to be insane to follow them for the rest of your life.
Thus, we should choose a diet that we can incorporate in our daily life. Dieting should be a lifestyle change rather than a period of voluntary starvation to look good.
Another reason why crash diets don’t work is that they put our body in the state of starvation. Our body doesn’t know the difference between forced and voluntary starvation. Therefore, it starts to store whatever we eat after the crash diet is over, in the form of fat in our body. As a result, we gain the weight back and sometimes, put on more pounds than we had before.
Crash diets also make us greedier towards food. By denying ourselves all the delicious food we see around us, we turn it into the “forbidden fruit”. That’s why most people jump on fried food, ice creams and chocolates as soon as their crash diet is over. They end up eating way more than they would have normally eaten and thus, all the dieting goes in vain.
This is why, all nutritionist recommend eating a balanced diet and exercise as the ideal way of losing extra pounds. Don’t starve yourself by following these crash diets.
