Yeast Infection Symptoms – Recommended Diet and Remedies
The yeast infection symptoms can range from itching and inflammation to others such as anxiety, mood swings and depression. Clearly it is imperative that sufferers address the root of the problem, otherwise a more fungal state of yeast infection may develop with increasing severity and range of symptoms.
Medical practitioners tend to focus on the visible symptoms and often prescribe medications such as antibiotics which address the external manifestations of the problem. Whilst soothing the infection temporarily, the root of the problem remains and often returns.
The patient often repeats the same treatments which address only the outward manifestation of the yeast condition. In fact drugs such as antibiotics may ultimately worsen the problem by destroying the bodies protective bacteria which actually combat yeast infections and perform other important functions. Without these the body is open to further attacks from harmful bacteria. The key to preventing this cycle of episodes is through diet.
At its simplest, candida is an over production of yeast. Therefore by limiting the intake of yeast in the diet the root of the problem can be contained. This is true up to a point however, as certain combinations of foods can also work to combat the damaging yeasts in the body. Because our diets must contain some yeast – this is unavoidable – eating foods that actually combat yeast production can be very beneficial.
Foods to avoid are all foods with a high yeast or sugar content, smoked or cured products, vinegar, and excessive fruits. Clearly fruit is an important part of our diet so they should be eaten sparingly rather than eliminated altogether.
