Tests are usually performed by the doctor to identify the type of staph bacteria that’s troubling the patient. Once the bacteria responsible for the infection have been identified, the doctor can easily prescribe the antibiotics that can be used for dealing with it. Intravenous vancomycin or sulfa drugs, nafcillin cephalosporins and related antibiotics are some of the antibiotics that can be used for dealing with the infection.

Serious staph infections are usually treated with Vancomycin because various strains of staph bacteria have proven to be resistant to the traditional medicines that have been used. However, this medicine will only prove to be effective for curing a staph infection if it’s given to the patient intravenously.

2. Bactroban

In some cases, the drug that’s known as Bactroban or Mupirocin has proven to be useful in treating and eradicating MRSA from the nose from healthy carriers. Nonetheless, unless there is evidence that an outbreak of MRSA has occurred and that a group of people or individuals are responsible for the infection, it is not recommended to use decolonization for treatment. In this method, the bacteria are removed by treating the carriers.
