6 Cures To Treat Heat Rash

Heat rash is a skin ailment seen during summer. When one is affected with heat rash the areas of the affected part of the skin itches immensely. The spots where this usually occurs are the neck, stomach, back and armpits.

Excessive sweating in these areas is the main reason for heat rash, and this excessive sweating block the sweat glands thus causing small bumps to appear.  Generally this tends to go in a week or so, but the itching caused by it in this period is unbearable. Below given are some remedies to successfully treat this condition.

Ways To Treat Heat Rash

1. Aloe Vera

Gel of aloe vera extracts which are available in the market can be used to get relief from heat rash. You could also take a fresh leaf of Aloe Vera and extract the gel from it. Apply this gel slowly to the entire heat rash affected area. The juice of Aloe Vera can be consumed daily to get the same effect.

2. Ice Cubes

Applying ice cubes to the heat rash affected area brings instant relief. For better results you can make the cubes of mint extracts which will not only bring relief but also remove the itchiness. For this, boil some fresh mint leaves and then after cooling the liquid freeze it to make ice cubes. Apply these cubes to the affected area for about 5-10 minutes.

3. Baking Soda

After a good cold bath, use a soft cloth to dry yourself. Take some baking soda and dust or apply it all over especially over the area of the heat rash. The baking soda will help absorb the excess moisture that is there on the body thus, controlling the itching and the heat rash. Apply this powder as often as you can or whenever there is sweating in the body.

4. Oatmeal Bath

Having a good bath with oatmeal is the best thing that one can do in the condition where one is affected with heat rash. Grind oatmeal to a powder and put it in a muslin or cheese cloth bag. Now put this bag in your bathing water. Keep it for some time so that the cooling, healing and soothing properties of the oatmeal spread through the water. The anti inflammatory properties of the oatmeal will bring about relief and soothe the affected skin.

5. Eucalyptus Oil

This essential oil has anti inflammatory properties which are very effective in treating heat rash. It helps get rid of the itching related with heat rash. It can be used directly over the skin or used in your bathing water or mixed with any water based gel and applied as a lotion.

Eucalyptus oil helps regenerate healthy skin cells, speeds up the process of healing and gives relief from itching and burning. However be careful not to consume this oil internally.

6. Milk of Magnesia

It has natural drying properties which will help remove the extra moisture from the skin and thus heal the heat rash. Apply it over the skin, keeping it for some time. Wash it clean and dry with a soft cotton cloth.
