Antibiotics

AntibioticsThe choice of antibiotics depends on the kind of prostatitis you are suffering from. The doctor will advise you the type of antibiotic. If the disease is in its severe form, the doctor can prescribe intravenous antibiotics, but if the patient is suffering from chronic prostatitis, the doctor will prescribe drugs for a longer period. The treatment will only work if you take the medicines regularly and complete the course of the antibiotics. Leaving the medication midway can make the disease relapse.

Alpha Blockers

Alpha blockers are medicines that are prescribed to help to join the prostate and the bladder. These medicines can also cease the pain during the urination. The examples of alpha blockers are tamsulosin (Flomax), terazosin (Hytrin), alfuzosin (Uroxatral), and doxazosin (Cardura). These medicines can cause headaches and a dip in blood pressure, dizziness, weakness and little or no sperm count during ejaculation. Alpha blockers are prescribed if the cause is not a bacterial infection.

Physical therapy and medicines like tricyclic antidepressant keep the pain under control. Other pain relievers like aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin) can be used. This is done by a doctor using a lubricated finger wearing gloves.

It is found in the woods from Vermont to Arkansas and gets its trademark, golden color from the scars which are found at the base of the stem. The stem, when broken reveals a golden wax letter seal. Goldenseal contains berberine known to possess anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Both these properties make it apt for prostatitis treatment. However, the properties are not as potent when the herb is consumed orally.
